HikeWest gratefully acknowledges the generous private donation this week of $10,000 to the organisation by WalkGPS bushwalking website. Site owner Dave Osborne announced the donation at HikeWest’s AGM on 25 October 2023. Dave is also the immediate past-President of HikeWest.
The donation also marks the celebration this year of WalkGPS’ 20th anniversary. Since its launch in 2003, the popular local bushwalking website has grown to include detailed descriptions of more than 100 adventurous walks, representing 1000+ kilometres of unique walking opportunities.
Today WalkGPS’ walks provide the foundation of the annual walk program for a large bushwalking club, and many non-club walkers have also discovered the joys of traditional bushwalking through the site. WalkGPS has been an annual sponsor of HikeWest since 2018 and was also a sponsor of the 2021 WA Hiking Expo.
These extra funds come as a welcome boost for HikeWest and will support the organisation to achieve even more for bushwalking in Western Australia.
