WA Hiking Expo 2023: Highlights video

View highlights from the WA Hiking Expo 2023 in this short video. The Expo was delivered by HikeWest in the picturesque Beelu National Park in the Perth Hills on a perfect autumn’s day on Sunday 30 April 2023. The event brought together outdoor enthusiasts to celebrate all things hiking and trail-running.

Thank you to Johnny Garlett and his dad Daniel for the warm Welcome to Country, with such relevant wise words and an accompanying cultural performance with didgeridoo and dance; and also to Matthew Hughes MLA, Member for Kalamunda, for opening the event.

The Expo provided a platform for a diverse range of more than thirty exhibitors to showcase bushwalking clubs, hiking tours, outdoor gear, trail food, and walks, allowing visitors to gather valuable information and explore new bushwalking and trail-running opportunities.

Guided hikes led by HikeWest member clubs catered to all skill levels and preferences. They were one of the many highlights of the Expo, attracting strong participation. From short family walks to more challenging hikes, they proved to be a popular introduction to the joys and benefits of bushwalking for all ages.

Beyond the hiking, the event offered attractions for all, including bush music performances, a climbing wall, wildlife contact, and other engaging kids’ activities, creating an enjoyable experience for the entire family.

With a lively, vibrant atmosphere, the Expo fostered a great sense of community and will no doubt inspire many attendees to now embark on their own hiking, bushwalking and trail-running adventures in the outdoors.

HikeWest, as the event organiser, has been delighted with all the wonderful feedback received from visitors and exhibitors, during and after the event. This second Expo again proved to be a very popular event for the community. HikeWest is most grateful for the majority funding that the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries provided through the Hiking Participation Grants Program to make the event possible. We look forward to an opportunity to deliver the event again in the future.
