HikeWest held its 2024 Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 30 October 2024.
We extend our appreciation to representatives from the following member clubs and affiliates who attended in person and online: Action Outdoors Association, Bunbury Bushwalking Club, Bushwalkers of Western Australia, Great Walk Network, Perth Bushwalkers Club, WA Family Bushwalking Club, WA Wanderers Mens Bushwalking, Western Walking Club and Transcend Trails.
HikeWest Annual Report
HikeWest has published its 2023–24 Annual Report, which includes the President’s Report, Executive Officer’s Report and audited financial statements. These reports were accepted at the AGM. Highlights included:
- Broadening of the HikeWest constitution to include trail running was approved by voting members.
- Grant funding for three pivotal programs was obtained during the year for programs that underscore the HikeWest message that “hiking is for everyone”.
- HikeWest partnering with a trail running organisation for the first time, to deliver the Hiking Expo at the Transcend Ultra event.
- Pascal Veyradier is to step into the role of President. Immediate past-President Kathy Miller is to assume the role of Secretary.
- Dave Osborne was awarded Life Membership in recognition of an outstanding and sustained contribution to HikeWest and WA’s hiking community.
- HikeWest Patron Geoff Schafer who turned 90 in October was thanked in absentia for his continued association with HikeWest since his appointment in 2017.
