HikeWest’s second Life Membership has been awarded to Dave Osborne at the association’s well-attended AGM on 30 October 2024.
The award is a recognition of Dave’s outstanding and sustained contribution to HikeWest and his tireless advocating for WA’s hiking community over the past decade.
Dave served as President and Acting Executive Officer of HikeWest from 2017 to 2023, and previously as President of Perth Bushwalkers Club from 2013 to 2016. He also founded the popular bushwalking website WalkGPS in 2003.
Dave’s advocating work with HikeWest has included building community awareness of the impacts of mining and drinking water source area protection policies on bushwalking areas and opportunities near Perth; and also highlighting the need for more trails to help meet the needs of the large, rapidly growing hiking community.
