HikeWest’s Community Hiking Program for culturally and linguistically diverse communities was delivered in 2024-2025 in collaboration with a wide range of partners across the Perth metropolitan area. The program brought together 354 participants across 22 guided nature walks, with 77% of participants being women.
The program wasn’t just about hiking – it was about building connections, supporting wellbeing and creating inclusive opportunities for more people to experience the benefits of hiking in nature.
We are especially proud to have worked alongside a number of organisations to deliver this program. They include:
- North Metro TAFE (Balga, Northbridge and Joondalup Adult Migrant English Program students and staff)
- Chung Wah Community Care
- Edmund Rice Centre WA
- Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Service
- MercyCare Mirrabooka, and the City of Stirling.
We also acknowledge the support of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for funding this project through an Outdoors Active Recreation Grant.
