Welcome our new Executive Officer!

The HikeWest Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Stanbury to the role of Executive Officer.

Andrew has previously had a range of leadership and management roles in the not-for-profit (NFP) sector in WA, across a broad range of sports and a charity. He brings to HikeWest strong financial and commercial skills and extensive strategic and operational experience in the sport and recreational environment, building on skills initially developed in a first career in fund management.

Andrew has a particular passion for outdoor sport and recreation. He has successfully managed organisations such as Tennis West and Swimming WA through significant periods of development and growth, achieving substantial increases in grant and sponsorship income and raising the profile of the organisations. He has enjoyed building strong relationships with volunteers, members and stakeholders during more than twenty years in the NFP sector to date.

He looks forward to leading HikeWest into our next phase of impact and growth, contributing to the organisation’s mission of encouraging and supporting healthy, active lifestyles and environmental appreciation through hiking in Western Australia.

In welcoming Andrew, HikeWest also extends our sincere thanks to outgoing EO, Meelee Soorkia. Meelee has stepped down from the Executive Officer role after leading HikeWest through an exciting period of development since May 2023 which has included in particular the introduction of a number of inclusive new hiking programs that have succeeded in introducing new participants to hiking. Thank you again Meelee!
