Glamping the Cape to Cape?

Tourism WA plans to carry out an ‘Eco-Accommodation Pre-feasibility study’ of the 124km Cape to Cape Track, as part of a move toward elevating the Track to global ‘great walk’ status, replicating Tasmania’s success as a hiking destination for tourists, while providing a uniquely different type of experience: See “Support for ‘great’ WA walk” (article in ‘The West Australian’ 24 December). Options might range from upmarket accommodation such as cabins or luxury tents, or the more sympathetic, lower impact alternative of self-catered huts such as along the Bibbulmun Track. Over-development of the Track could deprive low-budget local bushwalkers of access and a traditional, no-frills experience by being priced-out through fees and/or losing campsites.
